Valenzuela, ‘Manda’ outplay opponents

VALENZUELA rallied from a 14-point deficit to surprise Manila, 53-51, while Mandaluyong  leaned on a hot start  to  crush Quezon City,  74-58, in the  2018 Metro Manila  Sportsfest basketball tournament  at the Caloocan Sports Complex. 

Ivan Railey Salinel  finished with 17 points  and 21 rebounds, John Cris Yambao added  10 points and Rafael Evite  had nine points  and 13  rebounds for Valenzuela, which outscored Manila,  21-5, in the  fourth quarter . 

Albert Fontanilla led Manila with 13 points,  three rebounds, three assist and four steals.
    
Joshua Samaniego and Jacob Cortez powered Mandaluyong to victory over Quezon City.
    
Samaniego  and Cortez each scored 18 points   for Mandaluyong, which is being handled by coach  Johnedel Cardel.
    
Former Gilas mainstay Miguel Tan led  Quezon City with 15 points and 23 rebounds, followed by Ryan Yu with 11 points, six assists and five rebounds for the Stars.
