SEEKING one final stab for glory in the amateur ranks, Jeron Teng has been signed by newcomer Flying V for next month’s PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
“Yes,” said Teng’s player agent Danny Espiritu in a text message to People’s Journal/Tonight yesterday.
This will reunite Teng with Thunder coach Eric Altamirano, who handled the two-time UAAP champion in 2009 with the national U-16 team.
Teng has been practicing with Flying V two weeks ago, as the team still looks to complete its roster with more than a month before the May 25 tip-off.
In his debut in the semi-pro league, the 23-year-old forward led AMA Online Education to a stint in the Aspirants’ Cup quarterfinals but was eliminated by Tanduay in the process.
Teng, the top rookie pick in this season’s D-League draft, averaged a league-best 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists in almost 38 minutes of play for the Titans.
Another championship, this time in the D-League, will definitely boost Teng’s resume in the PBA Draft later this year.
