Team 90s bags ERJHS title

TEAM  90s  rode on the heroics of Joseph  Magpantay to subdue Team  80s, 66-64,  and capture the title in the 2018 ERJHS Alumni Sports Club Battle of the Generations basketball tournament at the Barangay N. S. Amoranto covered court in Quezon City.

Magpantay completed a three-point play with 3.5 seconds left to save the day for Team 90s, which blew double-digit leads in the face of Team 80s’ determined comeback before escaping with the win.

Magpantay, a stalwart of Batch 95,  finished with 16 points. He was also named as Most Valuable Player (MVP).
With the win, Teams 90s wrapped up the best-of-five series, 3-1, in the tournament organized by the ASC, headed by Ed Andaya of  Batch 81 and supported by Quezon City Cong. Bingbong Crisologo, Councilor Onyx Crisologo, Brgy. Amoranto Chairman Von Yalong and ERJHS Batch 71 and Batch73.
Team 90s  also won over Team 80s, 81-59, in the opener last March 18 and 76-68 in Game 3 last April 8.
Team 80s averted a shutout by winning 73-67, in Game 2  last March 25.
Choy Santiago, Rommel Lazaro, Jerry Santos and Daniel Blysma added 33 points among them.
Alvin Tanare and Ronald Carillo led Team  80s  with 17 and 13 points, respectively.
Geolin  added five points, including a short jumper that put Team 80s ahead, 64-63, with 12 seconds left before Magpantay came through with his heroics.
Earlier, Team 90s  also defeated Team 80s to capture the volleyball title.
Mamei Apinado, Teresa Asuncion, Don Bugarin, Alvin Salazar, Jocelyn Igarta, Jerald Hidalgo, Mona Jimenez, Lourdes Reyes,, Rick Boy Pacaldo and Allen Gonzales joined hands for Team 90s.
