KAI SOTTO was dominant as Ateneo completed a first round sweep with an 87-63 rout of La Salle-Zobel in the UAAP juniors basketball tournament yesterday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Using his 7-foot-1 frame to the hilt, Sotto pulled down 11 rebounds and tallied three blocks in the first half alone as the Blue Eaglets put the game beyond recall after racing to a 52-28 lead at the break.
Sotto eventually finished with a double-double effort of 11 rebounds and 16 rebounds on top of four blocks.
Earlier, National University rebounded from last week’s 15-point loss to Ateneo with a 103-79 overpowering of UP Integrated School.
Four other Eaglets players delivered in double-digits with SJ Belangel leading the charge with 23 points.
Joaqui Manuel added 16 points and 13 rebounds while Dave Ildefonso and Jason Credo each scored 13 points for Ateneo, which will head into the Christmas break unbeaten in seven contests.
