San Beda booters stun CSB, top elims

DEFENDING champion San Beda upended long-time nemesis College of Saint Benilde, 1-0, to finish the eliminations on top of the table in NCAA seniors football tournament Friday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Aljo Zabala produced the first half free kick goal which turned out to be the winning moment for the Red Booters, who also drew huge game from keeper Michael Asong with several good saves in the second half.

San Beda actually ended up level with its victims and  Arellano University, a 6-0 winner over Mapua, with 13 points, but the Red Booters clinched the No. 1 ranking by virtue of a better goal differential (+28) over the Blazers (+25) and the Chiefs (+7).

Lyceum of the Philippines University, meanwhile, secured the last Final Four slot with a 4-0 drubbing of Emilio Aguinaldo College.
