2 p.m. -- Akari vs. Che’Lu

4 p.m. -- Marinerong Pilipino vs. Zark’s

ZARK’S Burgers-Lyceum of the Philippines University and Che’Lu Bar and  Grill-San Sebastian moved closer in arranging a finals showdown  after besting their respective top-ranked foes in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup semifinals at the Pasig Sports Center yesterday.

The Jawbreakers sustained their  perfect playoff run, pulling off a thrilling 90-87 overtime win over No. 2 Marinerong Pilipino, while the Revellers took control in the final period to beat elimination round topnotcher Akari-Adamson, 70-60.

Zark’s and Che’Lu go for the clincher in Game 2 scheduled tomorrow at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Cameroonian slotman Mike Nzeusseu delivered the game-sealing victory for the Jawbreakers with a rim-rattling slam with 5.5 seconds remaining.

Joseph Terso then tried to turn things around but his game-tying triple went short in the Skippers’ final possession.

Zark’s, which defeated third-ranked Centro Escolar University twice in the quarterfinals, has improved to 3-0 in the playoffs.

“Again, I don’t know how they do it, but these guys just don’t know how to quit,” said coach Topex Robinson after the Jawbreakers completed the comeback from a 38-54 hole in the third frame.

Nzeusseu came through with 20 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, while Jaycee Marcelino also scored 20 markers on a 9-of-14 shooting clip for Zark’s.

They never looked back from there.
