Streaking Centro Escolar University goes for at least a semis playoff when it battles Lyceum of the Philippines-Batangas today in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) Season 3 at the Olivarez College in Parañaque City.

The CEU Scorpions and the LPU Pirates clash at 12 noon with the former seeking their seventh straight win in eight games that will not only cement their hold of the solo lead but will also enable them to secure a playoff for the last semis berth.

Olivarez College and Diliman College, on the other hand, part ways at 2 p.m. with the winner assuming second place. Both are toting similar 5-1 cards.

Mentored by Derrick Pumaren, CEU grabbed the solo lead after reasserting its mastery over winless St. Joseph College of Bulacan, 113-77, last Thursday.

The Scorpions have dominated their rivals since absorbing a shock 86-83 defeat to the Olivarez Sea Lions in the opener.

Out to lead CEU are Maodo Diouf, John Rojas and Pierce Chan who combined for 42 points the last time.

The Pirates hope to squeeze the best out of Lowell Castro and the 6-foot-6 Congolese Arsene Mulunda in their bid to improve their 3-3 record.

The Diliman Blue Dragons created a three-way tie for the lead at the end of the first round elims following a 79-77 win over the erstwhile unbeaten Sea Lions.
