THE Philippines will vie for top honors in the first Dreamers International 3-on-3 Basketball Championship in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam on Nov. 2-4.
To be represented by the Pinoy Youth Dreamers-Niño Jesus House of Studies, the Filipinos will play against six other teams from Australia and Vietnam.
The team, which left late Thursday night, will be bannered by Jan Prolles, Jhoncel Nudo, Jhunerits Martin and Jan Daniel Geronimo.
PYD founding president Beaujing Acot will coach the team, along with Mario Fernandez, Bong Julia and Vengie Gabales.
“This is another good opportunity for our players to meet new friends while playing good, competitive 3x3 basketball,” said Acot.
Aside from PTD-NJHS, the other teams expected to see action in the three-day competition are BSA Vietnam, Australian International School, RMIT-A, RMIT-B, District 2 basketball team and Poseidon basketball team.
The PYD-NJHS earned the right to represent the country by topping the recent Arceegee PYD Tatluhan, a four-leg tournament that culminated with the national finals in Manila.
Acot and his PYD-NJHS expressed appreciation to the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Smart Communication Inc, Buddy's Pancit Lucban, Regent Food Corporation, Batis Armin Hotel and Resort, Hygienix Alcohol Splash Corporation, JAMAN, Hook Up Clothing and Watches, H+Autoworks, Xpress Printing, Arceege Sportswear and Barangay San Antonio, Pasig City.
