Falcons survive Fighting Maroons, near semis

October 28, 2018

ADAMSON overcame a stirring University of the Philippines’ comeback from 26 points down to move on the cusp of claiming another Final Four appearance while University of Santo Tomas claimed solo fourth yesterday in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Sean Manganti drilled in a huge corner three in the final 1:14 left to help the Falcons pull off an 80-72 victory over the Fighting Maroons.

Rookie sensation CJ Cansino, a day after celebrating his 19th birthday, posted the league’s second triple-double of the season while veteran Marvin Lee was unconscious from the three-point area as the Growling Tigers toppled University of the East, 79-68.

Sporting an 8-2 card, not only did Adamson inch closer to securing a semis berth for the third straight year but it also opened a two-game cushion over third-running La Salle (6-4) in the chase for the second twice-to-beat incentive.
