Batang GS survives Team Elite

BATANG GS brought down Team Elite, 90-89, for its second win in Seniors -B in the MariQuina Basketball League (Q Cup) at the Parang Playground Court in Marikina City last Oct. 13.

Matthew Jimenez  led the way with 17 points for Batang GS,  which debuted with 97-93 win over Team Kelly in the inaugural last Sept. 30.

In junior division results, St. Luke  defeated  RVN-Brgy. Parang, 100-93, and Wanbol MLA nipped Rookies, 67-66, in Juniors A; and M7-Radiant outplayed Wanbol GBA, 89-56, in Juniors B.

Steven Gabriel Diño fired 23 points to lead St. Luke to victory over RVN-Brgy. Parang.

Aedrell Balacaoc  topscored with 19 points in Wanbol MLA’s win over Rookies; while Deo Timajo shone with 15 markers in M7-Radiant’s triumph over Wanbol GBA.

Last week, Pioneers got off to a rousing start  with 63-49 victory over Team ABC in Seniors A.

The other winners were Sotnas, which  defeated Cardinals,75-72, behind Darel Ferolino’s  23 points in the Juniors A; and Formula Z, which outclassed Ballers, 81-64, behind Earl Bautista’s 12 points in Juniors B.

The winners last Oct. 6 were Team LCM which downed Madam Tess, 87-83, in Seniors A; Team Elite, which routed Wanbol, 109-90, in Seniors B; St. Luke, which bested  Victory Slash Bros, 99-92, in the Juniors A;  Rising Stars, which crushed Drews, 126-56, in Juniors A; Madam Tess, which stopped Team LCM, 112–109, in overtime in Juniors B; and Batang GS, which overwhelmed Wanbol GBA, 75-60, in Juniors B.

The two-division tournament is a project of Cong. Miro Quimbo and Kap. Tatang Zulueta of Barangay Parang as part of their sports  develoment program,

Commissioner Sonny Manucat said  trophies and cash prizes are at stake in the  tournament with the champion getting P15,000.

The second and third placers will receive P10,000  and P5,000, respectively.

Monroe Cueson  is the  deputy commissioner
