Woman loses arm at MRT

A 24-year-old woman lost her right arm after it got caught in an MRT train coupling yesterday afternoon in Makati City.

Transportation Undersecretary Cesar Chavez said the woman was identified as Angeline Fernando, who was waiting for a ride at the Ayala Station in Makati.

Chavez said based on the CCTV footages, the incident happened at around 2:30 p.m. when the victim suddenly fainted and fell from the platform.

Fernando’s right arm got caught at the MRT train coupling that connects the train couches, severing it from her body. The victim was rushed to the Makati Medical Center for treatment.

Last week, Julieto Eco of Tanza, Cavite suffered severe head injuries when he was dragged by a train of the Light Rail Transit.
Report said Eco was beating the buzzer and tried to stop the door from closing by sticking his right foot. However, the door closed and he was dragged for a  few meters at the platform causing his head injuries.
