THERE are now two billionaires in the upper chamber based on their 2016 statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN)—Senators Cynthia Villar and Manny Pacquiao.
Villar, however, is richer than Pacquiao by over P184 million. From P3.5 billion last year, her wealth slightly increased to P3.606 billion as of December 31, 2016.
Pacquiao is worth P3.072 billion as he declared total assets of P3.422 billion but had liabilities worth P350.6 million.
Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, on the other hand, is the “poorest” among the members of the Senate “millionaire’s club” with over P6.5 million net worth.
He edged out Sen. Francis Escudero, who held the spot in 2015. Escudero was the second poorest with P6.602 million net worth last year. Detained Sen. Leila de Lima is the third poorest with P6.617 million.
