Signal #1 up in 16 areas ‘Crising’ threatens Samar

TROPICAL depression Crising is endangering Samar provinces, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said yesterday.

The NDRRMC said 16 areas were placed under signal no. 1. They are  Sorsogon,  Burias Island, Romblon, Masbate,     Ticao Island, Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Capiz, Northern Cebu, Northern  Negros Occidental, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte and Southern Leyte.

Residents in areas under storm signal were alerted to possible  flashfloods and landslides.

The eye of Crising  was estimated  based on available data at 130 kms east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. The tropical depression was packed with maximum winds of up to 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Crising was forecast to move west, northwest at 20 kph and within 24 hours it will reach 45 km northwest of Roxas City, Capiz.
Tomorrow morning, Crising will traverse Coron, Palawan and on Tuesday morning,  it will be at  330kms west of Iba, Zambales.
On Wednesday, it will be at 265  kms west of Sinai, Ilocos Sur.
The public are advised to be on alert and take precautionary actions.
