OPPOSITION Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan admitted that he and wife actress Sharon Cuneta has political differences as she supports the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
But Pangilinan was quick to deny that this has affected their relationship. He said in the long years of being married, they have learned to respect each other’s beliefs and principles.
“Kay Sharon, maliwanag na even with that friendship (Sharon at Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte), I have continued to be critical of this administration and have spoken daily and openly. Tuloy ang trabaho sa oposisyon. Kinikilala lang natin na we have political differences,” Pangilinan said.
He even jokingly said: “Hindi ako ‘outside the kulambo’.”
He further clarified that there are also political issues on which he and Sharon mutually agree.
Despite the differences, Pangilinan said that they support each other as husband and wife.
“But yung suporta nya sa akin, walang duda yun, bilang asawa. Tulad ng suporta ko sa kanya,” Pangilinan stressed.
An example of the mutual respect they have is his acceptance of the possible candidacy as Mayor of Pasay City of his brother-in-law Chet Cuneta under the administration party PDP-Laban.
“Well, like I said, nagkausap kami ng aking bro in law, we accept na magkaiba ng political leanings. We agreed to disagree, respeto sa isat isa,” he added.
