COMMISSION on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Andres Bautista yesterday admitted that resigning from his post is one of the options that he is thinking about now amid accusations of unexplained wealth against him.
Bautista said he is praying that he would be guided so he would come up with the best decision.
The embattled poll body chief earlier said that stepping down would not be difficult for him but he would do it with his name untainted and conscience clean.
Bautista was accused by his wife Patricia of allegedly hiding nearly P1 billion in unexplained wealth.
Bautista said he is thankful for the outpouring of support for him which warms his heart and gives him strength.
He denied his wife’s accusations and instead accused her of stealing passbooks and other bank documents from their home.
His brother also flew from the United States to defend him and claimed that he had at least $1.7 million in joint investments with the poll chief at one point, and that the issue was an effort to cast doubt on the integrity of the 2016 elections.
