AGRICULTURE Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said that the Philippines is going to enhance agricultural trade and cooperation with Sweden.

This developed after a courtesy visit by Ambassador Harold Fries of Sweden last Tuesday at the DA office in Quezon City.
Piñol said the DA is currently focusing on agricultural technological advancement, and is proposing to Sweden to engage in the Philippines particularly in supplying machinery, sophisticated water drilling equipment and modern communication equipment for farmers.
And after Piñol indicated interest in joining trade fairs that will showcase local organic agricultural products, Fries was reported to have mentioned Philippine mangoes as a fruit that would sell well in his country.
“It is an exciting prospect to transport our mangoes, particularly those grown in Guimaras, to Sweden,” the DA chief Pinol said.
Fries also mentioned that his government sees a lot of potential in the Philippines, particularly in trade and investment, research and development, and tourism.
Meanwhile, Fries invited the DA Secretary to attend the United Nations Ocean Conference in New York, slated from June 5-9.
“The Philippines will be happy to attend and share our experience with other countries,” Pinol assured Fries.
