JUST a proposal.

This was the clarification made by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez on the inclusion of
Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson in the administration’s senatorial line-up for the 2019 mid-term
elections.

In an interview, Alvarez said that as the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP-Laban) Secretary
General, he is merely proposing names of possible candidates who are to be approved by the party
officials.

“Itong mga sinabi kong names, temporary list lang ito. Proposal ko lang dahil kailangan pa din
i-finalize ng partido,” Alvarez said.

Last week in Cebu, Alvarez revealed at least six names of possible PDP senatorial candidates
that include Mocha and newly-appointed Presidential spokesman Harry Roque.

Also included are Negros Occidental Rep. Alfred “Albee” Benitez;  Davao City Rep. Karlo Alexei
Nograles; Bataan Rep. Geraldine Roman and former Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman
Francis Tolentino.

However, Alvarez did not include in his initial list Senate President Koko Pimentel, a
reelectionist and president of the PDP-Laban.

When asked why, Alvarez said Pimentel is already included and expected to lead the team.

“Kasali naman  kasi siya talaga, reelectionist siya, president ng partido, hindi na kailangang
banggitin,” Alvarez added.

Asked why Mocha, Alvarez said “tingin ko naman kaya niyang manalo, I think she has a genuine
heart for the Filipino people.”

In a related story, Alvarez also included in his list Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II.

“Itong si Secretary Vit Aguirre, kung ako lang ang tatanungin ninyo, ito ay dapat kasama sa
line-up ng senatorial candidates ng PDP sa 2019. Susuportahan ko po ang kandidatura ni Secretary Vit
Aguirre,” Alvarez said.
