Showbiz luminaries lend voice to growing clamor for presidential special aide to run for senator

THE call for Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go to run for senator next year
is growing even among entertainment and music personalities.

Recently two songs written by Jimmy Bondoc and Njel De Mesa were launched to persuade the
man dubbed “national photobomber” to hear the intensifying clamor for him to become a senator.

The song “Bong Go: Tanggapan ng Bayan” composed by Bondoc and “Let’s Go, Bong Go!” by De
Mesa were sung one after the other during the launching of Ready! Set! Go! Movement led by
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar.

Besides Bondoc and De Mesa, well-known artists like Philip Salvador, Angelika dela Cruz,
Epi Quizon, Rich Asuncion, Will DeVaughn, Mikaela Dela Cruz, Ramon Fernandez and many others came
and aired their support for Go.

In his speech, Salvador said it was only fitting that Go ran in the elections because he
possesses the dedication of a public servant.

“He is like the President who abhors corruption and drugs,” added Ipe, who has been a
friend of Duterte and Go since 2004.

It is expected that more will join the Ready! Set! Go! Movement and the call for Go to run
will spread wider among various fields and profession. The supporters of Go are set to go around
the country just like what happened during the Run Duterte Run campaign.

Last Wednesday Andanar said Go is assured of Duterte’s solid support should he decide to
join the elections.

“The President said, ‘I will support (Go) to the hilt!’ This means the President has full
trust in SAP Bong’s abilities,” Andanar said in front of thousands of Go supporters.

In a phone patch, Go thanked his friends, co-workers and supporters for their voluntary
call for him to run in the elections. He said he was surprised by the number of people who believe
in him.

Likewise many legislators in the House of Representatives have joined the call for Go’s
senatorial candidacy.

Last Tuesday Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte was the first to endorse Go for the
Senate. According to her, she had seen the loyalty and righteousness of Go in more than two
decades of serving his father.
