IT’S not official yet but sources said Deputy Director General Ramon C. Apolinario will succeed
Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald ‘Bato’ M. dela Rosa this coming January.

Three Journal Group sources said that President Duterte cut short Gen. Apolinario as the PNP’s
no. 2 official was talking in front of police generals who attended a command conference at Malacañang
Palace Tuesday night.
“You do that talking next year,” the President told the PNP Deputy Chief for Administration as
the crowd composed of police and military generals cheered. Sources said that the President’s message
is loud and clear: Gen. Apolinario, a member of Philippine Military Academy ‘Sandiwa’ Class of 1985,
would address his men when he succeeds Gen. dela Rosa who retires this coming January 21.
The President also said that the official who would become the next PNP chief is a “guwapo”
(handsome) although he did not identify him.
Sources said that the President also mentioned the name of Director Rene O. Aspera, a member
of PMA ‘Hinirang’ Class of 1987 whom he said could be a very good PNP chief. However, Aspera would be
retiring this coming May.
