A 42-YEAR old woman died while four others were injured in two separate road accidents in Zamboanga peninsula last Friday, Police Regional Office 9 director, Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis D. Licup said yesterday.

The first incident took place along the national highway in Sitio Sulabot in Barangay Picanan in Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur at 3:30 a.m. Friday when a motorcycle driver and his two backriders became victims of a hit-and-run incident.

An investigation showed that Abdillaha Glang,56, was driving his 150cc motorcycle with two backriders identified as Abdul Azis Glang,7; and Laila Mangilin,42, when they were accidentally hit by another vehicle.

As a result, the victims who were on their way to General Santos City were thrown off the motorbike and landed at the cemented pavement. Abdillaha and Azis suffered a fractured left leg and left shoulder respectively and were transferred to the Zamboanga City Hospital for further treatment.

Licup said Mangilin sustained serious body injuries  and died while undergoing treatment. He said local police are still tracking down the driver of the killer vehicle.

Another road accident at the MCLL Highway in Bgy. Sangali in Zamboanga City at 2:30 p.m. Friday injured pedestrians Bahia Jairan, 40; and Jerry Apostol, 46, the official said.

An investigation showed a trailer truck being driven by one Elmer Yu accidentally hit electric cables in the area causing a concrete post to fall down and hit the victims by accident.

Both were rushed to a local hospital for treatment while the driver was brought to the Zamboanga City Police Station 3 for filing of criminal charges for reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries and damage to property. The truck was also impounded by the local police.
