BATANGAS Police have arrested the wife of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) and her lover for allegedly killing the OFW on May 19, 2018 in Lipa City, Batangas.
This was confirmed yesterday by Police Regional Office PRO 4A Director Police Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar.
Eleazar identified the suspects as Janet Manalo Capalad and Roel Dinglasan Guico.
The suspects were tagged as masterminds in the killing of the victim Danilo Henson Teruel on May 19, 2018 in front of his residence in Bgy. Pinagkawitan, Lipa City. Teruel sustained two gunshot wounds in the head.
Accordingly, Janet and the victim allegedly married in Saudi Arabia while Roel was Janet’s lover and also a friend of the victim.
Based on the initial probe conducted by Lipa City Police Station, Janet and Roel were positively identified by witnesses as the killing’s masterminds.
Investigation showed that days before the incident, Roel Guico was seen talking to the gunman. On the day before the arrival of the victim with his wife, a witness again saw Guico talking to the gunman.
It was learned that Roel was the one who fetched the victim and Janet from the airport.
Roel also went to Saudi but went home ahead of them.
Both suspects did not resist arrest. They were charged with the crime of murder before the city prosecutors office.
The police are still conducting follow-up operations for the arrest of the gunman.
“We assure the public that PRO Calabarzon under my watch will do its best to give justice to victims of crimes and lawlessness,” Eleazar said.
“Vital to the solution of the case like this is the account from witnesses. We could not do this alone. So, we are appealing to the public to support and help us in all our undertakings. Let’s make good use of the technology and gadgets available to us to help in our campaign against illegal drugs and all sorts of criminalities,” Eleazar added.
