CABANATUAN City -- A 52-year-old businesswoman was arrested after allegedly trying to bribe an undercover lawman the amount of P30,000 in exchange for the release of her two sons who were earlier nabbed in a buy-bust operation conducted here last Tuesday afternoon.

Supt. Ponciano P. Zafra, city police head, identified the arrested trader as Francisca de Leon, widow, of Purok Narra, Bgy. Pamaldan, this city.

Her arrest came at 2 p.m. after she attempted to bribe Chief Insp. Jaime P. Ferrer, team leader of the Cabanatuan police Anti-drug Enforcement Unit, with P30,000 cash in exchange for the release of her two sons, who were nabbed by Ferrer’s team in a buy-bust operation conducted earlier at 1:30 p.m.

Zafra identified the trader’s two sons who were nabbed as Mario, 35, and Eusebio, 32, both of Pamaldan, this city.

They were earlier collared by Ferrer’s team during a buy-bust operation in the same barangay wherein the undercover lawman was able to buy a plastic sachet of shabu and also confiscate from Eusebio another plastic sachet with shabu while Mario yielded another plastic sachet with shabu and the P1,000 marked money used in the operation.

Zafra said bribery charges are set to be filed against the mother while her two sons were slapped with violation of RA 9165 before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
