Tarlac broadcaster arrested for drugs

TARLAC City -- A veteran radio broadcaster was arrested Friday during a police operation in Barangay San Isidro here.

Senior Supt. Ritchie Medardo Posadas, acting provincial director of Tarlac Police Office, identified the media personality as Evangelino P. Dizon alias Jing Dizon, 56, a resident of Zone I, Bgy. San Isidro.

Posadas said Dizon yielded peacefully to policemen after illegal drugs were seized from his house.

Supt. Luis M. Ventura, head of provincial intelligence branch and drug enforcement unit led the serving of a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Lily C. De Vera-Vallo of the Tarlac Regional Trial Court, against Dizon, Friday.

Ventura said the search was done accordingly and in the presence of Dizon, barangay officials, a representative from the Department of Justice and media.

Posadas said Dizon is an active media practitioner in the province. He has a radio program in Tarlac and columnist in a weekly paper.

According to Posadas, Dizon was listed as “HVT Level 2” since June 16, 2016 and voluntarily surrendered on October 26, 2016.

Police seized from Dizon five small transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, 12 medium size transparent plastic sachets containing suspected marijuana leaves and two cartridges for cal. 38 and a cal. 22.
