TARLAC City -- More will be jailed.
This was the firm statement of Supt. Luis Ventura Jr. as he led again the arrest of the 3rd barangay chairman of the province for violation of the illegal drugs law around noon yesterday.
Ventura, in his report to Tarlac Police director Senior Supt. Ritchie Posadas, identified the apprehended village official as Edison Calayag Diaz, 41, chairman of Bgy. Lourdes, this city.
A few weeks ago, Barangay Chairmen August Cruz of Bgy. Murcia, Concepcion, and Sherwin Samson, of Bgy. San Sebastian, this city, were separately arrested also for possession of illegal drugs.
Diaz was arrested during the implementation of a search warrant at his house where an undetermined amount of shabu and marijuana were confiscated.
The search was “lawfully” conducted in the presence of Diaz and his family, other barangay officials, media personalities and a representative from the Department of Justice.
Barely a week ago, Ventura, the soft-spoken but fearless intelligence chief, also apprehended the Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief of this city for possession and use of shabu.
Rogel Yambao, the city’s LTO head, was nabbed in a raid on his house in Bgy. San Roque where nine sachets of shabu, 17 live ammos and a fragmentation grenade were seized.
Ventura also led the arrest of four other barangay kagawads in the town of Concepcion.
