-- A 34-year-old bachelor whom police tagged as the number 1 most wanted person in Tanauan City was
arrested in Bgy. Boot, provincial police PIO chief Insp. Hazel P. Luma-ang said on Wednesday.
A report to local police director Senior Supt. Alden Bacarra Delvo by Tanauan police chief
Supt. Renato Cantos Mercado identified the felon as Edwin Legion de Chavez.
Delvo said a team headed by Mercado conducted a manhunt operation against the suspect last
Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. that resulted in the latter’s arrest by virtue of a warrant issued by Judge
Marjorie T. Uyengco-Nolasco of the Regional Trial Court Branch 83 of Tanauan City, dated May 2,
The arrested person was also charged with two counts of frustrated and attempted murder
based on Bgy. Information Network (BIN) records.
Delvo said the case transpired on March 27, 2013 in Bgy. Balele, wherein the complainants,
Chem Sigasig Angulo and Isagani Vergara Angulo, filed charges against the suspect.
No bail was recommended for murder but P120,000 bail was recommended for attempted murder
and P200,000 each for frustrated murder for the suspect, who was detained at the Tanauan City
custodial facility, Delvo added.
