DAET, Camarines Norte -- Previously dismissed Gov. Edgardo “Egay” Tallado formally took his oath of office before Daet Regional Trial Court (RTC) Executive Judge Evan D. Dizon on Oct. 30, 2-18, after lawyer Zalman Uddin, a legal officer of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional office in Legazpi City served Tallado’s reinstatement order a day earlier.
Reportedly, simultaneous with Tallado’s reinstallation order, Uddin also served a DILG order for concurrent Gov. Jonah Pimentel to return to his post as vice governor; and Michael Arthur Canlas, who is presently vice governor to revert back to his former post as number one board member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of this province.
Earlier, in a 19-page decision from the Court of Appeals (CA) issued by Associate Justice Mariflor P. Punzalan Castillo, dated Sept. 28, 2018 and received in CamNorte last Oct. 3, 2018, the Petition for Certiorari by Tallado was partially granted by the CA.
Previous decision of the Office of the Ombudsman dated Jan. 10, 2018, finding Tallado administratively liable for grave misconduct and meted a penalty of dismissal from public service served by the DILG Bicol regional office on March 4, 2018, was reduced by the new CA decision (dated Sept. 28) to simple misconduct.
While the CA order also stated that after Tallado had vacated his post last March 14, 2018, on the strength of the Ombudsman’s Decision for Dismissal, the reinstalled governor had already served the one-month, one day to six months suspension penalty for the reduced offense of simple misconduct”.
