Robber killed in Lipa encounter

LIPA City -- An unidentified robbery suspect died while his cohort was able to escape during police encounter after they held up a gasoline station in Lipa City the other night, reports said.

Lipa City police commander Supt. Geovanny Emerick A. Sibalo said his men conducted a hot pursuit operation against the suspects in the robbery-holdup incident at Shell gasoline station in Bgy. Inosluban at 11:30 p.m.

Police chased the motorcycle-riding suspects along the highway in Bgy. Latag.

Encarnacion said that when they were almost close, the suspects fired shots at the officers, who were forced to retaliate.

PO2 Rodoldo Dimaculangan was hit by a bullet while the suspect was hit severely in the body and was brought to N.L. Villa Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician due to gunshot wounds in the body while his cohort escaped.

A Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team was requested to process the crime scene.

Meanwhile, San Juan Municipal Police Station personnel led by Chief Insp. Rosell DM. Encarnacion nabbed farmer Roderick Villanueva Reglos, 40, married, of Bgy. Sapangan, San Juan during the implementation of a search warrant (IR No. PRO4A-SJMPS FA-08-21-18-29 dated August 21, 2018) issued by Executive Judge Cynthia R. Marino-Ricablanca.

Police recovered from his possession a cal. .45 Remington pistol (SN118362), one magazine and eight live bullets.

Encarnacion learned that the suspect is a drinker and always fired his gun every time he gets drunk.
