Reds abduct 2 cops in Surigao

SUSPECTED members of the New People’s Army (NPA) abducted two members of the Philippine National
Police (PNP) while manning a police outpost the other day in Placer, Surigao del Norte.

The victims were identified as PO2 Alfredo Lauro Degamon Jr. and PO2 John Paul Mondaya
Doverte, members of Placer Municipal Police Station.
Reports said the abduction occurred at around 1:40 p.m. in a police outpost located in Bgy.
Bad-as, Placer.
Accordingly, the victims were manning the said outpost when armed men on board two white vans
arrived and dragged the victims and fled towards the mountainous area of Bgy. Mabini, Placer.
Police as well as military untis were alerted in the area to immediately rescue the victims.
Troops from the Army’s  30th Infantry Battalion conducted a hot pursuit operation against the
fleeing rebels.
