PRO4-A sends 1,042 men as Asean security aides

Camp Vicente Lim, Calamba City, Laguna -- The Police Regional Office Calabarzon sent a total of 1,042
personnel, composed of 1,030 Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) members and 12 personnel from Regional
Health Service (RHS) 4A.

The contingent will provide security and assistance for the scheduled Asean summit for the
various delegates of the 11 member states which will be held from November 13-15, 2017.
    
The 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, with the theme “Partnering for
Change, Engaging the World”, will be attended by Asean heads of states and their spouses, ministers
and their spouses, the secretary general of the Asean and his spouse, as well as Asean dialogue
partners, heads of economies from APEC member countries and their spouse, international media, private
business visitors and other guests.
    
The entire Philippine National Police is placed under full alert status and ensured the
maximum deployment of personnel in all places of engagements to maintain peace and order during the
event.
    
“We have been providing augmentation to our government forces in activities such as this
Asean Summit and I am very confident that our deployed personnel shall exercise all their duties and
responsibilities with greatest respect of human life and dignity,” said Chief Supt. Ma.’O R. Aplasca,
referring to CDM contingents who will provide security in cases of violent demonstrations and
protests.
