CAMP Brig. Gen. Vicente Lim, Bgy. Canlubang, Calamba City, Laguna -- A police officer in Cavite was relieved after he was seen on video beating up new recruits with a baseball bat.

The said police official, identified as Supt. Alex Dimaculangan, was seen on video hitting the legs and hips of police recruits who were in a squatting position.

Senior Supt. William Segun, Cavite provincial police director, said the incident took place inside Camp Francisco Ferma in Tagaytay City last September where Dimaculangan was the former chief of Cavite police’s mobile force.

Segun also said his office had received several complaints against the suspect even before the video came out.

Dimaculangan told Segun that he was only instilling discipline among the new recruits who he claimed were too relaxed.

Segun said the video had reached the National Police Commission which is now investigating the incident.

Dimaculangan is now detained.
