AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency last Sunday smashed a drug drive in Negros Occidental following a series of buy-bust operations which led to the arrest of 14 drug offenders and the seizure of P125,000 worth of shabu, PDEA chair Director General Aaron N. Aquino said.
Members of the PDEA Regional Office 7, with the assistance of the local police, arrested the suspects led by suspected drug dive operators Peter Rovir Zapanta, Rhea Bartolin and Elma Fernandez. The three are said to be operating drug dens in San Juan Baybay, Bgy. 6, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Also arrested during the operation were the suspected drug den customers identified as Ryan Guillen, Jayban Rosalejos, Jose Palabrica, Ninio Kim Bartolin, Amado Palabrica, Bryan Fernandez, Jordan dela Pena, Julius Caesar Bermejo and Ramil Enardecido.
Aquino said that recovered during the operation were six heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some 25 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P125,000 and several drug paraphernalia.
A follow-up operation in the same area led to the arrest of brothers Jesrel and Ariel Paslon, who yielded one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu.
The suspects are now facing charges for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs), Section 6 (maintenance of a drug den) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,
The other suspects were charged with violation of Section 7 (visitors of a drug den), Section 11 and Section 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia) of RA 9165.
