THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency headed by Director General Aaron N. Aquino on Monday declared
Romblon as a ‘drug-cleared province’ after meeting all requirements set by the agency for a province
to be given the distinction.
Represented by PDEA Deputy Director General for Operations Raul Lasala, Aquino officially
declared Romblon as “Drug-Cleared Province” during simple ceremonies held at the Romblon State
College. The distinction was given after Romblon met the requirements for the validation and
declaration of its drug-cleared status.
Romblon became the second province in the country to be declared as “drug cleared” after
Batanes. The signing and awarding of a Certificate of Drug-Cleared Province was attended by Vice Gov.
Jose R. Riano, Rep. Emmanuel F. Madrona, Police Regional Office 4-B director Chief Supt. Wilben M.
Mayor, PDEA Assistant Regional Director Mario Ramos, Interior and Local Government-Mimaropa Regional
Director Florida M. Dijan, DILG Provincial Director Eduardo Janairo and other members of the
Technical Working Committee.
Mayor said during the implementation of the Philippine National Police Project: Double Barrel,
Project” Double Barrel Alpha and Project: Double Barrel Reloaded, the Romblon Police Provincial Office
launched 35 operations that led to the arrest of 47 suspected drug personalities, 13 of them
considered as ‘high-value targets’ or HVT, some of them barangay officials.
The Romblon police operations also resulted in the seizure of 188.3838 grams of shabu and
54.722 grams of marijuana.
