SIX suspected drug personalities in Mindanao, one of them a female ‘kagawad’ of a barangay in Agusan del Sur and his policeman-live-in partner, were arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in separate anti-narcotics operations last week which led in the confiscation of 40 grams of shabu worth P200,000 and various drug paraphernalia, PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña said yesterday.
The public official identified as Marivic Caburog, a barangay councilwoman in Rosario, Agusan del Sur who was arrested by combined operatives of the PDEA Regional Office 13 and the local police who raided her house last Saturday.
Recovered inside the suspect’s house were some 11 grams of shabu worth P55,000 and various drug paraphernalia.
According to Lapeña, the suspect’s live-in-partner identified as Senior Police Officer 1 Azul Torillo managed to evade arrest during the operation. However, the cop voluntarily surrendered to the authorities later in the day.
In Koronadal City in South Cotabato, PDEA Region 11 and local police agents arrested Roger Olasiman alias ‘Tata,’ a 36-year old construction worker residing in Solis Subdivision, Bgy. Zone III after he sold five grams of shabu worth P25,000 to a poseur.
The suspect was described as a known drug personality included in the watch list of local police authorities prior to his arrest.
In Cagayan de Oro City, PDEA Region 10 operatives arrested the no. 1 drug personality in Northern Mindanao last Thursday during a buy-bust operation in Zone 3, Bgy. Lumbia.
Lapeña identified the suspect as Donabelle Boots Degamo, a 41-year-old businesswoman residing in Purok 2, Pigsaluhan, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental who is listed as the no. 1 target of the PDEA Region 10.
Seized from the suspect’s possession were three plastic sachets containing 15 grams of shabu valued at P45,000, one mobile phone and several bank documents and ATM cards. Her Isuzu D-Max pick-up with plate number AAR-8987 was also impounded by the PDEA.
Another operation in Tangub City led in the arrest of Arnold Gamboa, 39, during a sting in Purok Bougainvilla, Upper Maloro area. When frisked, the suspect yielded some P10,000 worth of shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia.
The 6th suspect identified as Brenda Camaso, 44, was jailed after she sold 10 grams of shabu worth P50,000 to an undercover agent in Bukidnon province.
All suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
