PALAYAN City -- A national high school in this capital city of Nueva Ecija lost almost half-a-million pesos worth of computer sets to unidentified robbers last Sunday here, it was reported yesterday.

Provincial police director Senior Supt. Antonio C. Yarra said the unidentified suspects ransacked the computer rooms of Palayan National High School in Bgy. Atate, carting away seven Acer computer sets with monitors worth P390,000, an Epson projector (P40,000), two laptops, cash amounting to P3,300, and other gadgets, all worth about P481,700.
Yarra said the PCNHS was robbed while it was manned by security guards 24/7. He said the heist was discovered by teacher Joel Gallarde, 33, single, of Bgy. Magtanggol, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija.
Gallarde arrived at the computer laboratory Room 2 on the second floor at 11:30 a.m. but was surprised that all the things inside were in disarray and the computer sets were missing.
The adjacent computer Room 1, under the supervision of teacher Lanie Leoncio, of Bgy. Sapang Buho, was also discovered robbed upon inspection.
Yarra said the suspects gained entry at the school by climbing the fire exit ladder at the back of the administration building before going up the second floor.
Police are still investigating the robbery.
