Maute bandit surrenders in Lanao

A CONFESSED member of the ISIS-inspired Maute Group that laid siege to Marawi City in May 2017 surrendered to police and civilian authorities in Lumbatan, Lanao del Sur on Saturday.

A report from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Police Regional Office report identified the bandit as Camal Tawakal Marcos, a 28-year-old farmer from Bgy. Tambac Mantapoli, Lumbatan.

Marcos also  turned over an M-16 automatic rifle to officials of the Lumbatan police following negotiations with Mayor Allan Lao, said ARMM police director Chief Superintendent Graciano J. Mijares.

Marcos is now under the custody of the Army’s 55th Infantry Battalion.
