NAGA City -- Local resident Joel Coballes Bernas, 37, of Zone 5, Bgy. San Francisco, Magarao,
Camarines Sur, surrendered to local authorities after shooting dead with sumpak his relative, Alberto
Leonardo Coballes, 57, an STL collector, after the latter refused to pay in full his winning, the
CamSur Police Provincial Office here reported.

Reportedly, Coballes was brought to the Bicol Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival
due to gunshot wounds in the body.
Magarao MPS spokesperson PO2 Richard Vargas told reporters on Monday that the shooting
incident stemmed from a heated argument during a drinking spree when Coballes refused to pay the
balance of P4,200 from a P7,000 STL winning of Bernas.
Police said Coballes had collected P13,000 in STL commission when his cousin Bernas prodded
him to pay the balance, which led to an altercation between them.
