CAMP Simeon Ola, Legazpi City -- City police chief Supt. Nilo Berdin Jr. has been ordered to resume
his post this week after an investigation conducted by the Albay Police Provincial Office (PPO)
cleared him of torture charges filed against him by some city police officers.

Albay provincial police spokesperson Chief Insp. Arthur Gomez said Berdin went on leave during
investigation of the torture charges filed against him.
Supt. Eymard Gomez, who took over as Legazpi City police OIC, will return to his former duties
at the PRO5 headquarters.
The Albay PNP spokesman said charges against Berdin for violation of the “Anti-Torture Act”
has been dismissed by the Albay PPO because the said allegations reportedly occurred before Berdin’s
term as Legazpi City police chief.
