October 12, 2018

AN officer of the police Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) was seriously wounded in armed encounter with a notorious pusher during anti-illegal drug operation along the coastal area of Laguna Lake in Sitio Laot Mangano, Bgy. Maytalang 1, Lumban, Laguna.

In a report submitted to Calabarzon police director Chief Supt. Edward Carranza by Laguna police director Senior Supt. Kirby John Brion Kraft, the wounded victim was identified as SPO1 Jerome Garcia, who sustained a gunshot wound in the face and was brought to a hospital in Batangas.

The drug suspect, identified by Senior Supt. Kraft as Jeremy Matienzo Villegas, alias Jing Jing, of Sitio Laot Mangano, is still at large and is the object of police manhunt after he escaped using a motorized banca.

Villegas is number 5 on the provincial high-value target list of Laguna Police Provincial Office, who distributed 150 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P900,000 per week.

Report said that at about 2:30 p.m., the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) led by SPO1 Emil L. Medina, together with Lumban police and PDEA 4A under the direct supervision of Supt. Dennis Macalintal, PIB chief, conducted a buy-bust operation wherein the police poseur-buyer was able to buy shabu from the suspect. But, during the transaction, the suspect sensed that he was dealing with a police decoy.

The pieces of evidence -- a medium heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu -- will be brought to Laguna Provincial Crime Laboratory Office in Sta. Cruz, Laguna for examination.
