GUINAYANGAN, Quezon -- Police arrested a female elementary school teacher who physically hurt her seven-year-old female pupil at Guinayangan Elementary School, here.
Quezon police director Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman said the incident happened last August 22 but it was reported by the child’s mother to the police only last Wednesday.
He did not name both the child and the teacher but said the latter is already in police custody.
De Guzman said the incident transpired at around 2 p.m. after the girl urinated at the classroom’s toilet despite the teacher’s order not to use it due to scarcity of water supply.
At that point, De Guzman said the teacher allegedly got mad and hit the child in the head using a folding hand fan.
He said the child was diagnosed to have contusion hematoma when examined by the physician.
The teacher was charged with violation of Republic Act 7610 (physical abuse) and is now detained at the municipal lock-up jail.
