VIGAN City, Ilocos Sur -- A homicide and robbery suspect dubbed by the police as “most wanted person in Santa, Ilocos Sur” was killed the other day in an armed confrontation when the authorities tried to serve a warrant of arrest in Bgy. Manueva.
Chief Supt. Romulo E. Sapitula, Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) director, identified the suspect as Robert P. Bueza, 41, single, unemployed, of Bgy. Manueva, Santa town.
Based on police report, joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the local police led by Chief Insp. Reynaldo Macabitas tried to serve a warrant for homicide and robbery to Bueza when the suspect moved to the adjacent house of a certain Clarita Bueza upon noticing the presence of the police at their premises.
Police said the suspect fired his caliber .45 pistol at the operating personnel, who promptly retaliated.
The suspect sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed by the police to Rural Health Unit of Santa and later on transferred to Gabriela Silang General Hospital in Vigan City where he was declared dead on arrival.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team recovered at the crime scene a Colt MK IV series 80 cal. .45 pistol with serial number 70N23067, a magazine for cal. .45, six bullets for cal. .45, two fired cartridge cases for cal. 5.56mm and a bullet jacket which are subjected for cross matching and ballistics examination.
Sapitula commended the operating troops and further stressed for the continuous and relentless implementation and service of warrants of arrests especially against those listed as MWPs in partnership with the community.
