‘Gunrunners’ nabbed by GMA cops

GMA, Cavite -- Elements of General Mariano Alvarez Police Station collared two jitney drivers engaged in gunrunning in an entrapment operation in Bgy. Lumbreras, here, last Sunday afternoon.

Chief Insp. Romulo dela Rea, officer-in-charge (OIC) of GMA police, identified the arrested suspects as Vincent Bentulan del Rosario, alias Bino, 26, jeepney driver, of B3, L9, Bgy. Maderan, GMA, Cavite, and Mark Anthony Aliswag Dimaandal, alias Mac, 29, jeepney driver, of 1075 Aliswag Compound, Bgy. Sampaloc III, Dasmariñas City, and one John Doe (still at large).

Elements of Intel/Warrant Section and patrolling GMA policemen nabbed the two suspects in a entrapment operation at place, together with the confidential asset.

An asset, who acted as the buyer, was able to sell  two firearms to the officer -- a KG99 cal. 9mm make and brand Luger patents pending, with one magazine loaded with two ammunition, and one caliber .45 without make and model with serial number 770882 loaded with two ammunition.

A boodle money worth P55,000 and the P500 with powder dust and the vehicle used by the suspects and a Mitsubishi Adventure bearing plate number ZGF 155 were seized.

The two arrested suspects were detained at GMA detention cell, according to officer-on-case PO2 Bobbie B. Balazo.

In Silang town, a member of the Makati City Police Station was nabbed by the local police for alarm and scandal, for illegal discharge of firearms, Sunday night, in Bgy. San Vicente.

Chief Insp. Resty Soriano, Silang police OIC, identified the arrested suspect as PO1 Jan Kirby Bayot Vigilla, 32, allegedly detailed at Makati City Police Station, married, of 23-A E. Jacinto St., Bgy. San Vicente 2, Silang.

Initial investigation revealed that at 9:15 p.m., a telephone call was received by Silang MPS from a concerned citizen about a commotion going on in said barangay, involving the suspect and allegedly discharged a firearm.

A mobile unit of Silang MPS went to the place where they heard a gunshot after which they saw the suspect wearing sando and with tattoo on the shoulder holding a firearm, which prompted the officer to arrest him. Confiscated was a cal. .9mm Pietro Beretta with PNP markings, serial no. M19644Z with magazine loaded of nine live ammunition and an empty fired cartridge in its chamber.

Police said the suspect was a member of the Philippine National Police with the rank of a Police Officer 1 and presently assigned at Makati City Police Station and designated as City Drug Enforcement Unit member.

The suspect was placed under the custody of Silang MPS and will be subjected to paraffin test while the recovered pieces of evidence will be subjected for ballistic examination.
