CAMP Gen. Miguel Malvar, Batangas -- A 37-year-old man charged with homicide and frustrated murder was nabbed by authorities at 7:50 p.m. in a buy-bust in Bgy. Sta. Clara, Batangas City, provincial police PIO chief Senior Insp. Kerwin Amor Umali Cabrales said the other day.

A report to Batangas police director Senior Supt. Edwin A. Quilates by city police commander Supt. Sancho O. Celedio identified the suspect as Rommel Madrigal Hidalgo, alias Bagaong, of the said village.

Celedio said the Batangas City Police Station/Drug Enforcement Unit (BCPS-DEU) conducted a buy-bust against the suspect, who yielded several heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu and P500 marked money.

Celedio narrated that the suspect was previously arrested for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 on November 23, 2016 but the case was dismissed.

After he was acquitted for the said offense, he was again engaged in illegal drug activities.

Furthermore, ‘Bagaong’ was also allegedly charged with frustrated homicide on May 2, 2015 and attempted murder on Feb. 15, 2016.

In connection with the apprehension of the suspect, a cluster leader in the village proved that the suspect is still engaging in illegal drug activities after he was acquitted in his previous case.
