Fistfight leads to stabbing

CPPO, Camp General Pantaleon Garcia, Imus City, Cavite -- A male bystander in the coastal town of Tanza was stabbed in different parts of the body when he confronted the suspect in an altercation Monday morning, according to Senior superintendent William Segun, Director, Cavite Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

The victim, Julius Ervin Labaco, 29, single, of Bgy. Julugan 2, Tanza, together with his friend, was standing along the road in Bliss Subd., Bgy. Daang Amaya 2, when the suspect passed by and the victim got irked and confronted the suspect.

A fistfight ensued between the two after which the alleged suspect Roberto Flores Jr., 31, single, jobless of J.P. Santillan, Brgy. Biwas, drew a knife from his pocket and stabbed the victim several times.

The victim sustained stab wounds in the body and was rushed to Tanza Family Hospital, while the suspect fled after the incident but was apprehended moments later by responding barangay tanods and is now under the custody of Tanza police.

However, the knife used was not recovered from the suspect, Chief Insp. Dhefry Punzalan, officer-in-charge of Tanza Municipal Police Station said.
