STO. Domingo, Nueva Ecija -- Unidentified motorcycle-riding armed men gunned down a former village chief while entering his residential compound here last Sunday morning.
Killed was Juanito Sana, 72, former barangay captain of San Pascual, Purok 2.
Mayor Greg G. Andres, who condemned the killing, ordered authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident and bring to the bars of justice the ex-barangay official’s killers.
Sana was driving his Honda XRM motorcycle and was about to enter the compound after arriving from the town proper when he was shot twice at 6:45 a.m.
The two suspects were riding a Suzuki Raider motorcycle and apparently tailed the victim and upon reaching the compound, the back rider suddenly shot the former barangay official twice, hitting him in different parts of the body.

Two witnesses, identified as Harold Fernando,29, mailman, and student Carl Aaron Buado, 14, neighbors of the victim, described the driver as wearing helmet, black jacket and maong pants while his back rider was donning a camouflage bull cap and his face was covered.
Chief Insp. Abraham Atencio, town police chief, said members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered two spent shells for cal. .45 at the crime scene, a deformed slug and the suspect’s camouflage bull cap.
Atencio said they are still investigating the motive behind the incident.
