Ex-cop sued for murder arrested in Batangas

CAMP Gen. Miguel Malvar, Batangas -- A former member of the Philippine National Police charged with murder was nabbed by authorities during the implementation of a warrant of arrest in Bgy. Libjo, Batangas City, provincial police PIO chief Senior Insp. Kerwin Amor Umali Cabrales said the other day.

A report to Batangas police director Senior Supt. Edwin Aguilan Quilates by city police chief Supt. Sancho O. Celedio identified the suspect as Mark Anthony Sarmiento Bugayong, a former policeman and a member of the well-known criminal group.

Police arrested the suspect at 11:45 a.m. in Bgy. Libjo by virtue of a warrant for murder under Criminal case No. 13050 issued by Judge Conrado R. Antona of the Regional Trial Court Branch 4 of Batangas City and malversation of Public Property under CC No. 14502 issued by Judge Paterno V. Tac-an of the RTC Branch 84, also in this city.

The said accused is no. 1 most wanted person in Lambat Sibat, Phase 4 Reloaded by Batangas City PS.

Meanwhile, in Balayan town, policemen headed by Chief Insp. Jaime S. Pederio Jr. arrested two suspects, identified as Erwin Cupit Concepcion and Jocelyn Causapin de Jesus for possession of four small plastic sachets of suspected shabu and a marked P500 bill during buy bust at 7:50 p.m. the other day in Bgy. Navotase.

The suspects were reportedly illegal drug sellers in their barangay.
