AGENTS of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group gunned down two Indian nationals wanted for kidnapping their wealthy compatriot during an encounter in Imus City, Cavite, at 3:05 a.m. yesterday, officials said.

The suspects, identified as Kumar Pardeep and Honey Deol, engaged anti-kidnapping operatives in a gunfight while they were about to be arrested along Palanas Road in Bgy. Anabu 1G and were killed in the process, said PNP-AKG director Senior Supt. Glenn G. Dumlao.
The two suspects each yielded a loaded handgun, a paper bag containing the ransom money  and a motorcycle following the gunbattle with PNP-AKG operatives led by Supts. Ramil Montilla and Arthur Masungsong and Chief Insp. Leo Canuel.
Pardeep’s Tax Identification Number showed that he is a resident of Dasmariñas City, Cavite, he added.
Dumlao said that the duo and at least three Filipino cohorts were identified as the ones who kidnapped Indian national Lalit Kumar in Bgy. Salawag, Dasmariñas City while the victim was collecting loan payment from his clients last September 3.
He said the kidnappers initially demanded P20-million ransom from the victim’s family but later reduced it to P1 million and set the ransom payment on Wednesday.
“The two apparently sensed the presence of officers monitoring the ransom payment early morning yesterday and tried to escape after firing their guns. They were eventually shot dead in a firefight,” Dumlao said.
Dumlao said Kumar was still alive last Sunday.
“We found out that the victim was strangled to death by the suspects and his body dumped on Damayan Road in Bgy. Navarro, General Trias, Cavite last Monday. It’s really saddening that the recovered body has been identified by his family,” he said.
Dumlao said that although they have already executed the victim, the kidnappers still demanded payment of ransom from the latter’s family.
