Drunk widower drowns in Ecija river

GUIMBA, Nueva Ecija -- A 50-year-old widower, who went on a drinking spree with friends was found dead
after he allegedly drowned in a river here last Wednesday.

Supt. Rechie A. Duldulao, town police commander, identified the victim as Juanito Reofrir, of
Purok 2, Bgy. Tabing Ilog, Licab, Nueva Ecija.
Duldulao said the incident which occurred in Bgy. Cainigin, Tabing Ilog, was then promptly
relayed to the office of Senior Insp. Romualdo S. Lopez, Licab municipal police head.
Duldalao said the victim was found dead and was retrieved from the river by his barangay mates
at 6:25 p.m.
Investigation showed that the widower visited his friends the night before and failed to return
home since.
Duldulao said because the victim’s relatives knew he was drunk after coming from a drinking
bout with friends, they refused his body to undergo an autopsy.
