AN armed drug trafficking suspect was killed in a gunbattle with undercover officers in Guiguinto, Bulacan early morning Tuesday, Police Regional Office 3 director, Chief Superintendent Amador V. Corpus said yesterday.

The suspect identified only as one alias ‘Kojo,’ a man included in the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) watchlist of Bgy. Sta. Rita in Guiguinto died after trading shots with members of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Guiguinto Municipal Police Station headed by Supt. Orlando Castil, said the PRO3 director.

A Guiguinto police report said that the suspect had just sold a packet of shabu to a poseur in Riverside, Bgy. Sta. Rita around 3:35 a.m. Tuesday when he sensed the presence of plainclothes officers out to arrest him.

The suspect tried to escape on board a tricycle but was pursued by officers. While about to be cornered, he drew a concealed firearm and fired shots at the lawmen who were forced to retaliate killing him on the spot.

An unidentified companion of the slain suspect managed to escape and is still being hunted.

Castil said that 11 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a loaded caliber .38 revolver and marked money were recovered from the possession of the slain suspect.
