Cordillera cops nab 2 ‘rapists’

TWO wanted rape suspects were hauled to jail by the Cordillera police in separate operations in
Lagawe, Ifugao, last Sunday, Cordillera police director Chief Supt. Elmo Francis Sarona said

The official identified the two as Wilson Mangadap and Michael Balunay.
The 45-year-old Mangadap, of Bgy. Escoting,  Diadi, Nueva Vizcaya, was arrested at around 5:45
p.m. Sunday by combined operatives of the Lagawe Municipal Police Station and the Ifugao Provincial
Intelligence Branch on the strength of a warrant for rape issued by Judge Romeo Habbiling of the Lagaw
Regional Trial Court Branch 14 with no bail recommended.
On the other hand, Balunay, 20, a farmer from Bgy. Dulay, Lagawe municipality, was arrested 9
p.m. Sunday by the local police on the basis of a warrant for rape in relation to Republic Act 7610 or
the anti-child abuse law also issued by Judge Habbiling with no bail recommended.
