September 10, 2018

PHILIPPINE National Police chief Director General  Oscar Albayalde yesterday announced the filing of criminal charges against 18 suspects in the terror bombing of a militia detachment in Lamitan City, Basilan last July 31 which killed 11 persons, including a child, three women and the bomber himself.

“I am pleased to announce that the PNP has filed two separate criminal cases for murder and multiple frustrated murders before the Regional Trial Court Branch 2 of Isabela City against 18 suspects involved in the July 31, 2018 bombing of a CAFGU detachment in Lamitan City,” the PNP chief said.

Albayalde said that eight of the suspects are already in the custody of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Police Regional Office headed by Chief Supt. Graciano Mijares.

He said 10 more suspects led by Basilan-based Abu Sayyaf chieftain Furuji Indama alias “Boy Sopek/Abu Jhovel” are being hunted.

“We have found out that Furuji Indama masterminded the bombing in an effort to gain international recognition as a terrorist and be acknowledged as the real Abu Sayyaf chieftain in Basilan,” Mijares said.

He identified the eight as Musa Mandio Jallaha, Hadji Hurang alias “Nura Narimin,” Nsir Kusain Nuruddin alias ‘Battuh Murah,’ Al Basir Santos Ahmad, Abdurahim Lijal alias “Mike Lijal/Mike Suman/Abu Fattie,  Ammar Indama alias “Ammar Matahul Mohammad,” Julamin Asmad Arundoh alias “Mammin Totong/Abu Mammin,” the group’s bomb expert and tagged  as the one who assembled and rigged the IED and; Saad Tedie alias “Boga Tedie/Abu Tedie,” the man who reportedly helped plot the bomb attack and assisted “Mammin” in preparing the IED.

Abayalde said that a PNP Special Investigation Task Group probing the August 28 bombing incident in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat that killed three persons and wounded 36 others has also identified and charged 25 members of a breakaway faction of the  Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and several accomplices for the crime.

“An information was filed over the weekend before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Sultan Kudarat against the suspects,” he said.
